Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral? Where do I send a referral?
While we are more than happy to answer any questions and/or address concerns about your child and the therapy initiation process over the phone (or via email) prior to your first session, a referral is needed in almost all cases to begin therapy. You can have your doctor fax over our referral form (available here on our website) or print it to take with you to your child’s next check-up/appointment.
Is an evaluation required prior to services beginning?
Yes. Once we receive a referral from your child’s doctor, we will reach out to set up your first appointment/evaluation. Once the evaluation process is complete, we will schedule you for services to start roughly one to two weeks later. In rare cases, a complete evaluation may not be needed if you are transferring from another practice, you bring a recent evaluation documentation with you, your insurance does not require it, or you are “self-pay.”
Where will services be provided?
All therapy services are provided in our clinic, which is conveniently located on the Southside of Savannah at 413 W Montgomery Crossroads Savannah, GA 31406. Nearby landmarks include Culver’s restaurant and Savannah Squares Retirement Community. We do have outside contracts with local organizations (e.g. schools, facilities, etc.), and in those specific situations, therapy will be provided onsite for convenience to clients and families.
Can I come to the appointment/therapy session with my child?
Yes! We welcome parent(s)/caregiver(s) to join us in the session for additional training and modeling of therapy skills to address concerns. Just let us know what would make you and your child most comfortable, and we will do our best to make accommodations as needed.
Can I drop my child off and come back when the session is over?
In short, yes. We do ask that caregivers/parents stay nearby and are back at least 5 minutes prior to the session ending so that our therapists can review session outcomes and home program recommendations at the conclusion of the visit. Additionally, we have a comfortable waiting area for your convenience, or many parents choose to wait in the comfort of their vehicle during the therapy session as well.
What is your attendance and cancellation policy?
We strive to provide convenient access to care for all our patients while also giving our staff an opportunity to build rapport with patients and provide treatment as consistently as possible. We are more than happy to work with every family as we know life can get “messy” and things come up. However, our policy for attendance is as follows:

If you do not show up for your appointment, you no longer have a “standing appointment” and must be in touch with our office weekly to be scheduled. If you cancel more than 25% of your scheduled appointments in a month's time, you will no longer have a “standing appointment” and must be in touch with our office weekly to be scheduled. To those families with multiple therapies (PT/OT/ST): If you do not show up for your scheduled appointment, you will no longer have your therapies adjoining on the same day.
What ages do you work with?
We offer therapy services to children from birth to 18 years old. For established families, we can continue services until the age of 21 in many cases based upon insurance and the needs of the young adult.
Can you work with my child if they already receive therapy (speech, OT, PT) services at school?
Yes! This is a great question that we often hear, and this is absolutely an option. We encourage you to take advantage of all offered services to give your child the chance for the best possible outcomes.
What if my child receives other therapies (e.g., behavior) through a different organization, will you collaborate with them?
Of course! We love working alongside other professionals in our children’s lives - from hearing specialists, behavior therapists, life coaches, teachers, and more! We offer our contact to them (via the parent/caregiver) and have you sign a release if you would like us to request information directly from them.
Do you offer free screenings?
Sure we do! Please give us a call at (912) 354-4474 and we can discuss scheduling this screening (approximately 10 minutes in length) which will allow us to briefly gather information about your child and your concerns and make a recommendation whether or not a full evaluation is needed.
What is play-based therapy?
Play-based therapy is exactly what it sounds like and exactly what our motto states: “They think it’s play, we know it’s work!” Play-based therapy is disguised therapy (speech, occupational, physical, or feeding) that incorporates all aspects of play, from fun toys, games, social interactions, movement, and smiling faces. We always want our clients to work hard but not even realize it because they are having such a great time!
